Internet Marketing from the Real Experts is an affiliate marketing book, that is designed to help all you affiliate marketing people out there. Although it talks all about affiliate marketing; it’s not just and affiliate marketing book, it’s much more.

-The book has 88 authors covering affiliate marketing, as well as email, search engine marketing, social media, productivity, and more.
-There are 130 articles in Internet Marketing from the Real Experts, and 60 of those articles are about affiliate marketing.
-Most of the articles are 500 words or less and you can read through them in about 3 minutes each.
-Talks about how to make more money with your lists and list management.
-Since marketers don’t want fluff, these articles are designed to get to the point quick.

I had the chance to read this entire book and I loved it. I have been in the internet affiliate marketing world for around 10 years now and found that there were a lot of things in this book that I needed to start doing, or do better. The book of 88 authors seem to all have differences in opinions but great ideas. This is not a Make Money with Google book, this is a book that will tell you the concepts behind their ideas. Some of the 88 authors tell you how they did it others tell you the mentality behind their thoughts. The Affiliate Marketing book is an excellent way for a beginner to jump a few years ahead of the rest of the people starting in affiliate marketing and know what to do. I would recommend it to everyone. I even bought my Mother and Father the book so that they can actually understand what I do. I loved it.

7 No, No’s When Marketing on the Internet

(Failure to) Build a List

Failing to collect names in order to build a list of email addresses you can continuously promote to is a BIG mistake. Building a business online is a very long term process that requires time and effort. It’s not an easy road. An integral part of that process is collecting and developing a list of email addresses that you can promote well into the future. By doing so you are able to take advantage of the efficiency of both your cost and effort while still growing your business.

(Failure to) Build a Relationship

When you build a list for your online business you first want to develop a relationship with list members BEFORE you start promoting to them. This also works in life. Become friends first. This helps to strengthen their loyalty towards you and makes your promotional efforts easier.

‘No Ask No Get’

As your relationship with list members grows now is the time to begin promoting your goods and services. It is not necessary nor is it recommended to make every email message promotional in nature. On the other hand do not be shy about marketing to your list either since this is why you collected names in the first place. You don’t ask, you won’t get.

Lacking Perseverance

Do not expect that every time you promote something the people on your list will buy since this is unrealistic and will never happen. It is important to understand that on average it can take up to seven contacts with a person before they make a purchase. In other words DO NOT GIVE UP after one or two attempts! You will make it work.

Overusing Graphics

Placing graphics or using multi-media tools on your site is perfectly fine as long as it aids the selling process. Be careful to NOT overload your site with too many distractions and problematic graphics however since this will be an annoyance and distraction for your website visitors. You want them to clearly understand the message on your site which of course is to make a purchase. Don’t overuse them!

Ineffective Sales Copy

Copy writing is how you sell anything on the internet and if you do not know how to produce effective sales copy either learn to or hire a professional. This should be considered a very important component of your overall online marketing strategy.
Look around online and examine the various sales letters and see how they are written. Notice how they ‘target’ certain emotional triggers in the reader and at what point in the sales copy this done. Copy writing is a talent that can be learned and if you take the time to do so it will be one of your most valued assets. Not saying our website is perfect, but we are trying everyday to make it better.

Expecting Not to Work Hard

An online business differs from a traditional off-line business only in that the primary means of communicating to your customers is through the internet. Online entrepreneurs must first invest their time and effort in order to see their businesses grow and flourish. It is true that many tasks can be ‘automated’ it but you will FIRST have to establish a business to do this.
If you are thinking online marketing is an easy road to overnight riches you have been misled. Online marketing is a way to realistically build a solid and lucrative business in a ‘relatively’ short period of time but only AFTER an investment of time and effort.

Avoiding these mistakes can help with your online marketing success. Check out Adogy for ways to monetize your affiliate success!

The Checklist

Before the bill hits your state:

 1. Find out who your local representatives are – do the research ahead of time
2. Contact your legislators and start some dialog now while you don’t need them for anything
3. Keep in touch with your representatives – when the time comes you want them to already know you and your story
4. Reach out to not only your politicians but others in your area that will fight on your side – team work is key
5. Start a mailing with including specifically those in your area in the industry so you can stay connected when you need each other most.
6. Know your local resources – who has media connections, you already has close relationships with their leaders, etc.
7. Work on a game plan ahead of time – who is likely to get involved – also, who in the industry will help from outside of the state.

When the bill is actively being discussed:

 1. Connect with local Affiliates that will be likely to fight with you.
2. Keep your chatter about tactics to closed communication with only those directly involved – others are always listening, don’t share your game plan with the universe by tweeting and blogging your every move.
3. Get a hold of information you can share with the legislators – the PMA helped us with this.
4. Plan a “Visit the capital” field trip day – gather a group of people to go literally door-to-door talking with leaders in the area. If you can, try to plan far enough ahead so you can schedule appointments. In Colorado, we had zero lead time so we just showed up. We did, however, make sure to be mindful of the legislators’ busy schedules.
5. Write letters and make phones calls.
6. Repeat 1-5 until the battle is over
7. Read up on the Colorado Tax Battle.

General food for thought

 1. Have a unified message among your whole group
2. Keep in touch with each other – communication is a key to a successful game plan
3. Don’t be afraid to ask for help
4. If you have some skill or knowledge that can benefit everyone, share. You’re in this together, so fight together.
5. for a little more insight on this perspective, read Things I Learned from battling the government

Remember, these are real people you are talking to. You need to be mindful not to completely wear out your welcome in the sense that if you bombard too much, people will stop listening. But make sure not to give in the first week just because things aren’t looking good. By all means, when they ask you to stop because their inbox is too full, really think about that before you stop sending messages… maybe their inbox is too full because there are so many of you that have written – the legislators work for you, they know it, they need to listen to you when you have a real issue.

In the end, remember to say thank you.

Special thanks to those who helped me along the way while I was sorting out this learning curve! You know who you are, yes, there’s brownies in it somewhere.

(Greek: a suffix: any branch of knowledge; any science or academic field that ends in -ology which is a variant of -ogy; one who speaks (in a certain manner); one who deals (with a certain topic); talk, speak)

The word -ology is a back-formation from the names of certain disciplines. The -ogy element basically means “the study of ____”. Such words are formed from Greek or Latin roots with the terminal -logy derived from the Greek suffix -λογια (-logia), speaking, from λεγειν (legein), “to speak”. The suffix -ology is considered to be misleading as the “o” is actually part of the word stem that receives the -logy ending; such as, bio + logy.

Through the years -ology and -ogy have come to mean, “study of” or “science of” and either of these suffixes often utilize the form of -ologist, “one who (whatever the preceding element refers to)”.

Definition:

Adogy – The science advertising, the study of advertising. The techniques and practices used to bring online products, services, opinions, or causes to public engagement and interaction.

History:

Weekly newspapers in London first carried advertisements in the 17th century; by the 18th century such advertising was flourishing. The first advertising agencies were established in the 19th century to broker for space in newspapers, and by the early 20th century agencies were producing the advertising message itself, including artwork. Most advertising promotes goods and services for sale, but similar methods are used in public service messages to promote causes, charities, or political candidates. Advertising is the most important source of income in many countries for the media through which it is conducted. In addition to newspapers, magazines, and broadcast media, advertising media include direct mail. Billboards, posters, transit advertising, and promotional items such as matchbooks or calendars. Advertisers attempt to choose media that are chosen by the advertisers’ target audience. In the late 19th century the “Internet” has cause online advertising to become a high value item. Customers purchase online more than ever before leading to an increase in Adogy.

Objectives:

To analyze your data and make best use of it possible. The science of advertising (aka. Adogy) is used to determine the best approach for you to make money with what you already have. Advertising is the most important source of income in many countries because it let’s you know what you are doing is working or not. The adogy is found in found in what you do with your data.

Forms of Advertising:

List Management: Management, monetization, targeting, profiling

Online Performance Advertising: Search, display, social, mobile

Direct Marketing: Direct mail, email marketing, telesales
